Meet Mary Ann
HAC Member Since Feb 2003

My name is Mary Ann Wooten and working out with a personal trainer, Robert Coughlin, at the Health and Athletic Center has given me a new lease on life. Before starting my exercise program, I had been experiencing a lot of pain in my back and legs due to bulging discs.

I started having back pain and I almost completely cut out exercise because of my pain. Luckily I met with Robert and “I no longer have back pain caused by my bulging disc and I am much stronger.

I had two epidural cortisone injections with no relief and several sessions with a physical therapist with moderate relief. It was only after starting a weight training program with Robert, my personal trainer, and working out on a consistent basis did I finally have total relief from the back pain. Not only has weight training helped my back but a regular exercise program has also had a positive impact on my total medical health as my chromes disease has also shown much improvement.
Regular workouts will always be part of my life now as I have personal knowledge that “exercise” can produce positive results with a healthy lifestyle. By the way, another benefit to my weight training program “my clothes fit a whole lot better.”
